About Me

During his time at Epic Records, Joey Arbagey was the Executive Vice President of A&R, a division of Sony Music. He joined the label in 2014, and oversees the creative record-making process for several of Epic’s artists including Camila Cabello, John K, AJ Mitchel, Zara Larsson, Eddie Benjamin, Rence, Kah-Lo and Captain Cuts. Prior to moving into the pop space of music he was the Head of A&R and the right hand to Antonio “LA” Reid, where he oversaw the entire department and artist roster, which included Future, Travis Scott, DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor and dozens of others. He was responsible for the massive hit “Work From Home” by 5th Harmony along with all their other music success. From there he went on to be Camila Cabello’s A&R where he was a part of huge hits with “Havana,” “Never Be The Same,” “Senorita” “Bam Bam” to name a few. Joey's connection within the music world spans its entirety, and his influence has helped shape the face and flavor of the R&B, Dance, Neo Soul, Hip-Hop, and Pop music realms. From 1990 - 2000, Joey held every positions from intern to Program Director at KMEL-FM Radio in SF, his efforts led the station to achieve a #1 market share. He was instrumental in breaking many artist career's including, Eryka Badu, Mary J. Blige, D'Angelo, Outkast and many others. From 2000 to 2007, Arbagey served as VP of A&R for Arista Records, and subsequently at Island Def Jam Music Group, reporting directly to Antonio LA Reid and Shawn Jay Z Carter. In those roles, he collaborated with many of the music industry’s most prolific producers, writers, and artists including: Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and many others. Wanting to play a more active role in production, in 2007, Joey launched Near Records which became Arbadel Productions in 2011. A music consultancy firm, label and production company based in New York and Miami.The culmination of Joey’s far-reaching work has been an integral part of the industry’s biggest success stories. Joey Arbagey is a global citizen and philanthropist who has frequently leveraged his resources to help raise money for causes such as animal welfare, health, disasters and humanitarian relief, the environment, arts and education.
